Part II, Correction Committee-Jobs Lacking Legislators Working

May 3, 2009

TEXAS Senate Criminal Justice Committee
TEXAS Correction Committees

TEXAS CORRECTIONS SYSTEM COST BILLIONS OF TAXPAYERS DOLLARS A YEAR

Where were you?

Why are you not showing up for your Committee Meetings?

Does anyone care? Guess Not or the elected legislative body of TEXAS would show up during their every Two (2) Year Legislation Meetings that the Voting Taxpaying Citizens of Texas Elected them to do. Wow, what a nice salary the Voting Taxpaying Citizens pay you to be a “NO SHOW”, not to mention the Health Care , Retirement Plan, and not have to pay into the Social Security and Medicare Plan because you are exempt .

I wonder how the Texas Legislators spend their days and exactly where some of them are at the time of a scheduled meeting and/or committee voting time.

The Correction Committee in several schedule meetings, NO SHOWS. (see below 2 samples of minutes of meeting, who did and did not show up, who voted and who did not)

Bills cannot be passed enabling changes until the Bill goes through the hearing, the hearing cannot be held if there is not a quorum of Committee Members showing up.

Since the Texas Legislature meets only every two (2) years from January 20th until May 20th, one would think the Elected Officials, voted to that position by Texas Voting Taxpaying Citizens, would be willing to at least attend the Committee Meetings they sit on, but that does not appear to be the case.

I say it is a disgrace for our elected Legislators not to honor the elected position enabling them to uphold the law and speak for “WE THE PEOPLE”. The Legislators are not representing “WE THE PEOPLE” when there are NO Shows for committee meetings held for hearing the BILLS and VOTING on the BILLS.
